Making Beads Doing the Twist

Not much too extensive in the past I arrived across a package deal of beads deeply concealed in my stash.  I experienced ordered them at the very least 10 years ago in Freeport, Maine at The Beadin’ Path, a great bead retail store that is no extended in organization.
There was a strand of beads that I seriously adore nestled in amid that prolonged in the past buy.

 I believed I would try to make a set out of ceramic clay.  The tag gives a small  clue on how they may be manufactured. ( see textual content underneath image previously mentioned)

I tried out rolling out some spherical beads and twisting them but that did not work.  Then I acquired the thought that if they ended up initial made into a 3-d disk bead that possibly that might  do the job. That appeared to be the answer but the twist was more difficult that I had believed.  I set my fingers on the glass Czech bead to get an idea of how to I would have to twist them.  It was rather uncomfortable as the fingers on each and every hand would have to go in the opposite course.  I persevered and the initially established of beads I made is in the photo below.

Considering the fact that I did not choose into account that my clay shrinks 12% during the drying and firing procedure, mine are fairly lesser than the initial strand but I am  pleased to use them in some of my freeform peyote sew perform.  I have a bracelet I am doing the job on that they would go properly with.

I also designed some in blue and white to see how they would glance. 

If I make far more of the blue and white beads I believe I will skip the white aspect and just have them in blue.    

But the to start with set of beads–  I am just crazy about the shade and have been trying  it on other pieces as well.

I was really joyful with  how the higher than pendant arrived out and stunned how the shades had morphed during the glaze firing.

So I attempted it all over again on a greater piece and was a lot more than delighted with the result

For me what operates when I am making is to stick to my enthusiasm on on the other hand circuitous a route it will take me.  In the close it will carry me immediately to my coronary heart and soul.
