ART ELEMENTS BLOG HOP SEPTEMBER THEME: FOLIAGE

This is my first time taking part in an Art Features Site Hop.  I was intrigued by the theme of foliage considering the fact that that has been my topic for most of the many years I have been making ceramic beads.  I ordinarily make a mildew from crops and use it as the basis for pendants, toggle clasps and cabochons.  I always hand paint on the coloured glazes and nearly under no circumstances use underglazes. The image earlier mentioned is a sample of pendants in my typical way of generating.

For some time I have been wondering about other methods of making leaves and bouquets.  I have a selection of dried leaves that have fallen off a rubber plant I have in the residence. I really like their graceful movement and lyrical traces and type.

                                    My dried dead leaves assortment

I made a decision I required to hand construct my leaves and flowers. These leaves (pictured over) and some Victorian botanical drawings have been my inspiration.  I constrained my instruments to making use of an orange wood cuticle adhere for makings the markings  on the leaves. My clay overall body was a white stoneware clay which I fireplace to cone 5 (a little bit previously mentioned 2100 levels F.)  I commenced little but as time went on my leaves received larger and more substantial.

When it arrived to glazing what I built I was a bit stymied at 1st.  I made a decision to test some underglazes which I do not commonly like since they are so stiff.  But I preferred all those markings to display up by way of the other glazes I applied.  So I experimented with out a black and a blue.  I was not unsatisfied with the end result.

What am I heading to do with all of these creations?  I approach to use them in some of my no cost form peyote stitch jewelry.  And some I have positioned in my Etsy store.
