How to Make a Sumo Wrestler Costume

One of the most popular costumes to wear for Halloween or for other costume parties, is the sumo wrestler costume. This is an easy costume to make, however, the ones that you buy have neat features that you cannot make at home, like the inflatable version.

You should begin with finding the right shape for your costume. The easiest way to do this is with a fat suit. However, fat suits are quite expensive. Another option is to stuff a leotard, but then you may look lumpy. A last option is to build a structure to hold out the costume in the right shape.

Next you need to think about what kind of shoes you will be wearing. Traditionally, wrestlers compete in bare feet. You probably do not want to go out in bar feet. You can wear nude colored shoes, or flip flops. Sumo wrestlers wear wooden sandals when traveling and out of doors, you can find similar ones at the store.

After this, you will need yo start thinking about how you will wear your hair. Most sumo wrestlers have longer black hair and wear it in a ponytail or a high bun. If you do not have much hair, then simply get a black wig. If you do have long, dark, hair, simply wear it in a low ponytail or a high bun.
